We got this at a brocante at Reims in the Champagne region but apparently it originated from a local manoir where it was used in a manoir or country house hallway.
We’ve since used it as intended in our French cottage.
It’s a large, sturdy antique French oak umbrella stand or stick rack in a country house/arts and crafts style dating to the early 1900s.
Well made with a curved galleried front and what appears to be it’s original galvanised drip tray, it’s now a little worn but still very sound and functional and also makes a great French country house decorative piece…

In good antique condition with wear from use but no damage - please examine photos carefully for condition.
The wooden surfaces are very sound with some wear, knocks and scratches - see photos.
Appears to be of tenon joint and nail construction with all joints secure.
Freestanding but also looks like it could be wall mounted as it has what appear to be fixings to the rear - see photos.
The galvanised drip tray has worn and peeling black paint (the paint is still peeling with pieces falling away) - see photos.
No sign of woodworm.
I can find no maker’s mark.
