Description

We are working with a fantastic client of ours based in Sussex who are looking or an experienced Bookkeeper.

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours / 5 days per week, Mon to Fri. 09.00 – 17.30 with lunch taken 13.00 – 14.00. We may consider alternative work patterns. Due to current resource levels this will need to be a minimum of 30 hours / 4 days per week.

Job description:

* Bookkeeping duties for a range of clients including direct communication and effective relationship management.

* Using a variety of software including Xero, Quickbooks, FlickThru, IRIS and Outlook.

* Preparing and filing VAT returns, personal tax returns, partnership tax returns and companies’ tax returns, ensuring MTD compliance where applicable.

* Assisting with digital migration or training in cloud accounting software for clients.

* Maintaining proper accounting standards, recording all communication with clients on the appropriate systems within the firm.

* Reconciling purchase ledgers, bank accounts, and balance sheet control accounts.

Skills requred:

* 3-5 relevant bookkeeping experience in a UK accountancy practice.

* Previous experience of managing direct reports is essential.

* AAT Qualified (or part-qualified) or equivalent professional credentials preferred.

* Proficient with cloud accounting platforms such as Xero or QuickBooks.

* Excellent attention to detail, highly organised, and consistently able to meet deadlines.

* Strong Excel skills are essential – pivot tables and data analysis may be required.

* The ability to confidently build relationships with both clients and internal teams.

* Previous experience of training clients on online accountancy software would be advantageous.

* Effective verbal and written communication skills required for client interaction, team coordination, and reporting.

* Well organised with the ability to work accurately under pressure and manage work deadlines.

* High level of integrity and ethical approach to work.

* Assisting the leadership team with managing junior bookkeepers and their workload.
