Hays are recruiting an Audit Manager for an independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Loughton. The firm was established over 70 years ago and has remained independent over the years, mostly growing organically. The firm's diverse clientele spans a multitude of sectors, with a particular focus on serving owner-managed businesses and their entrepreneur owners as well as UK subsidiaries of large international groups.

The firm is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to take responsibility for a portfolio of clients and be comfortable leading and developing members of the Audit team. Beyond your core responsibilities, you will be an essential part of the business development efforts. As a key player in the team, you will attend networking events, contribute to pitches for new work, and work closely with the Partners to drive growth and success.

Core Responsibilities

Managing a portfolio of audit and accountancy assignmentsSupporting the partnersJob plan staff allocation on assignmentsPlanning work, core work management and completionAttending meetings with clientsLiaising with clients and clients' finance teamsLiaising and co-operating with other departmentsManaging teams of staff on assignmentsMentoring traineesTeam buildingBusiness developmentWIP and billingVarious allocated departmental responsibilities as assigned.Dealing with ad-hoc issues as they arise

Who We are Looking For

Qualified ACA/ACCA with good technical competenceSolid audit experience on a mix of clients and industriesExperience within a Mid-Tier Practice is essential.Proven track record of portfolio managementKnowledge of current UK GAAP accounting standardsExperience of managing and developing a team is essential.IT literate including Sage/Xero and CaseWare experience an advantage.First class communication skills and the ability to supervise and lead a team would be essential.Candidates must have a car and a full, clean driving licence.
