Hi, my name is Miss B.

In 2010, I qualified as a secondary teacher with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status). I have an up-to-date DBS. I tutor students live, one to one and online using Zoom. I am currently tutoring students; from Upper KS2 (Years 5 and Years 6), Key Stage 3 (Years 7, 8 and 9) to Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11) in GCSE English Language, English Literature and Maths.

I have a Master’s in Music and a Bachelor’s degree in Drama and Film Studies, which informs my literacy teaching. I have taught both GCSE English Language and English Literature to Higher Tier for over 25 years. I excel in teaching Creative Writing, Drama and Poetry. In 2016, I undertook additional DfE (Department for Education) teaching training in Secondary Mathematics and am now certified to teach Secondary Mathematics as a Second Specialist Subject.

I am able to support all levels of numeracy and literacy and have specialist materials to support children who are Gifted and Talented as well as children with Special Educational Needs. I have worked with many students whose learning has been affected by Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and English as An Additional Language.

Tutoring Expertise:

KS2
I tutor students in Years 5 and 6 for the End of Year 5 exams, the 11 plus exams and the SATs 2 exams. I have over 25 years’ experience of tutoring students for the English, Maths and SPAG SATs exams and the English, Maths, Verbal and Non Verbal 11 plus exams.

KS3
I tutor students in Years 7 to 9 in English and Maths for the End of Year exams.

KS4
I tutor students in Years 10 and 11 for the GCSE English Language, English Literature and Maths exams from Foundation to Higher Tier.

This year I am preparing my Year 11 students for AQA, Edexcel and Eduqas GCSE English Language and English Literature exams. I am also preparing all my Year 11 students for the GCSE Higher Tier Edexcel Mathematics exams. In previous years, I have tutored students for both the Foundation and Higher Tier AQA and Edexcel Mathematics exams.

Post 16
I tutor GCSE English Language and Maths resits and Functional Skills English and Maths Levels 1 and 2.

The marking of homework, and the planning and preparation of all tutoring resources, are undertaken outside of paid tutoring sessions ensuring the student gets their full hour’s tutoring. After each tutoring session, parents receive a brief emailed progress report plus pdfs of all the screenshots from the session for the students to review.

I have invested heavily in high quality, up to date tutoring resources and online teaching equipment. The tutoring sessions are individualised, engaging, and interactive to ensure my students gain the highest levels of attainment possible. As all tutoring resources are provided prior to the tutoring sessions, there will be no need to purchase any.

Fees
Tutoring sessions are £36 per hour, with shorter lessons available at proportional rates (for example, £30 for 50 minutes or £18 for 30 minutes). This fee reflects the full scope of support provided, including lesson planning, resource preparation, live one to one teaching, and a personalised progress report with review materials each week. All resources are included, and there are no hidden costs.

For Maths, I recommend two lessons each week: a 50 minute session to introduce and work through new material, followed by a 30 minute session later in the week. The purpose of the second session is to revisit and practise what was taught, helping the student retain more of the content, strengthen understanding, and reduce the amount of homework needed.

For English, one lesson per week is usually enough to maintain progress. Students are exposed to complex English every day in all their school subjects, as well as through television, books, music, and other media, whereas complex mathematical concepts are typically encountered only in Maths lessons.
