Hi, I'm Dr Robert Schuhmann!

I offer tutoring in Physics and Mathematics at university level. Further I provide any science-related subject, including Computing and Chemistry, for National 5/GCSE, Higher and Advanced Higher, as well as bespoke courses for Adult Learners.

Studying science or mathematics can feel like someone handed you a puzzle with half of the pieces missing. It is my mission to fill in the gaps for you, and get you to achieve an understanding where things click and make sense again. Together we will take the time to pick you up from where you are and to bring you where you want to be.

My hourly rate is £60. You can get a 10% discount for advance-booking 5h of tutoring time at £270. I only bill for face-to-face time.

Through my master's degree at Perimeter Institute I have acquired a strong background in theoretical and mathematical physics. In my PhD at UCL I focused on statistical methods for astronomical data analysis of big cosmology surveys. I worked as a postdoctoral research assistant for 2.5 years on projects across weak gravitational lensing and supernova cosmology, with a stronger focus on machine learning methods. I also worked as a data scientist for the private sector for a few months.

In my five years of experience as full-time private tutor for physics and mathematics I have worked with many students on a variety of subjects, including the following:
