Highly experienced English Literature and Humanities tutor available for secondary school students undertaking Nat 4-5, Higher or Adv Higher English, or for college and undergraduate university students in literature, arts and humanities disciplines.

I am a friendly, enthusiastic final year English Literature PhD researcher, currently completing my doctoral thesis, with a First Class Honours degree and a Master’s degree in 20th Century Literature.

Whilst studying at undergraduate level I received the university award for Best English Literature Dissertation.

I have several years of extensive experience in classroom teaching and one-to-one tuition at university and secondary level, and am familiar with all aspects of Scottish Curriculum for Excellence examinations.

I am the director of English Literature and Cultural Studies on a Cambridge Summer School programme, and have tutored classes on literature, art, philosophy, politics, media, gender, cultural studies, architecture, music and fashion to students of all ages, backgrounds and levels of experience. I regularly deliver lectures and conference presentations, and present my research at academic and arts events across the UK, Europe and United States.

Whether you are struggling with Nats, aiming for a certain Higher award in anticipation of a university application, re-sitting a qualification at any level, or completing university coursework, I can offer expert tuition, guidance and practical advice to provide students with the tools to realise their full potential.

Tuition will be suited to the needs of the student and can cover close-reading, poetry, prose, drama, essay writing, linguistics and stylistics, research and study skills, and any other aspects of English Studies or related humanities subjects such as Media Studies, Modern Studies, Cultural Studies, History, Politics, RMPS etc.

I can also offer expert guidance on applications and cv writing, and preparation for interviews, presentations or projects.

All of the students I have tutored have found success in university study or FE college following significant improvements in their coursework results.

Available for meetings via Zoom/videocall, or in Glasgow city centre (GOMA Library, cafes, etc), or home visits near train stations in the South Side / Cathcart Circle / Clarkston / Burnside.

PVG/DBS certified. References available on request.

£35 for 60 minutes / £45 for 90 minutes / £55 for 120 minutes.
