Do you want to make a big difference to people's lives and have a fulfilling career?

The Action Group provides services for people with learning disabilities and other support needs. The job entails working with adults and young people, helping them to maintain independent and fulfilling lives.

We support our service users in pursuing their goals, and also with practical things such as taking care of themselves and their homes. We tailor the support we provide according to each person’s needs and wishes. This means that the job can include helping people to get out and about or to go shopping and also lending a hand with keeping track of money, medication and schedules.

We are currently recruiting support workers for the East Lothian service. We are looking for male support workers in Haddington as well as female support workers in Prestonpans. We are ideally looking for people with full driving licenses because some of our service users have Motability cars and need their support workers to drive them. Having your own car would also be an advantage as the service covers the whole East Lothian area. We pay mileage for travel undertaken whilst on shift.

Full-time and part-time positions are available

£17,745 - £18,671 per annum pro-rata
Start from £8.75 per hour
Sleepover Payment of £62.64 per night

Candidates must be great communicators and problem solvers, and be fully committed to the Action Group's values of equality, inclusion and opportunity for all. No experience or formal qualifications are necessary, although an SVQ Level 2 in Social Care will be an advantage.

Benefits include

Mileage allowance whilst on shift
Travel time payable where applicable
Pension
An exclusive employee discount scheme
24/7 employee assistance programme, with access to free legal advice and counselling
Good annual leave entitlements
Ongoing support, training and development opportunities
