An exciting opportunity for a chef/kitchen manager to join our vibrant, local and friendly team at Canvas & Cream in Forest Hill. Canvas & Cream is no ordinary restaurant, we serve excellent food with a friendly and professional service as you would expect, however we also house a renowned dedicated art gallery 'C&C Gallery', artist’s studios and events space.
By day we are a very popular licensed café/restaurant mainly British food with European culinary influences, starting from a breakfast menu including vegan, vegetarian meat and fish options through to a full a la carte lunch offer including Sunday Roasts and a fantastic variety of delicious homemade cakes, good wine and excellent cocktails.
In the evenings, we currently host events ranging from wedding receptions, birthday parties, buffets, formal seated dinners, artists’ talks, events for art exhibitions, live music etc. Creativity is at the heart of everything we do and everything we do, we do well.

Immediate start but we will wait for the right candidate.

What we are looking for:
¥ At least 1 years’ experience managing a kitchen with a small team
¥ Experience in events an advantage
¥ Enthusiastic positive attitudes and excellent communication
¥ Ability to keep calm under pressure.
¥ Efficient and organized and able to do ordering using IT and spreadsheets
¥ Attention to detail whilst keen to go above and beyond the usual duties
¥ Proactive and hardworking
¥ Team player in that all staff undertake all aspects of kitchen jobs whilst keeping strong and stable leadership
¥ Flexible with working hours

Job role expectations:
Working alongside the General manager/head chef you will:
¥ Manage a small team of kitchen staff
¥ Ensure a smooth, efficient, safe, hygienic kitchen
¥ Keep abreast of cost and stock control, being creative with surplus produce
¥ Input into the development of menus
¥ Ensure that our customers receive a high quality of service and excellent food
