Part time Personal Assistant and childcare support to a disabled woman, 4-10 hours per week

As this job involves personal care elements for a woman, it is a genuine occupational requirement that applicants are not men. Applications from women are welcome . Applications from those of other genders will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

I am a young, active disabled postgraduate student and mother in Birmingham.

Your role would be an extremely valuable one, assisting me to live independently on a day-to-day basis. Tasks usually revolve around assisting me to get up in the morning and assisting me to care for my baby, though the role is very varied. You must be reliable, trustworthy and willing to learn . Confidentiality is essential.

No experience in the personal assistance or care sector is necessary.

Experience with infants would be extremely helpful, whether formal or informal.

The number and timing of hours is yet to be confirmed but would likely involve between 4 and 10 per week, and would ideally include one regular weekday morning (shift of between 2 and 3.5 hours) and other afternoon and evening shifts (between 1 and 2 hours), as well as weekend mornings at least every third weekend. There would be some flexibility regarding what hours the successful candidate worked, according to their schedule and other commitments.

Pay is £9.80 per hour for weekdays, £11 per hour for weekends, and more for cover for other PAs and emergency call outs.

Ability to travel to Selly Oak (Weoley Castle side) is essential, as is being comfortable around cats.

Applications close on Tuesday 20th February at midnight, and interviews will be held on Tuesday 27th February.
