Guest House Assistant - Rosebank Guest House

(a wholly owned subsidiary of The Travel Corporation)

Key Responsibilities & Objectives

General Assistance throughout the Guest House, ensuring the operation and control of the Guest House in a safe, clean and hospitable manner, with focus on exceptional service standards and delivery of Highland Hospitality at its best.

Overview

Rosebank Guesthouse is part of The Travel Corporation a family company which includes Morag’s Lodge Loch Ness, Highland Explorer Tours and HAGGiS Adventures.

The Guesthouse is due for development and its existing 12 bedrooms will become 22 by 2019. As a result, the role is varied, hands on and the team will be expected to show initiative and be flexible.

Responsibilities

Customer Experience

  • Ensure all guests experience positive Highland Hospitality and receive consistently excellent customer service

Cleaning and Room Servicing

  • Stripping & making beds
  • Laundry processing & dealing with linen according to SOP’s
  • Room set up
  • Cleaning bedrooms, bathrooms & communal rooms
  • Environmental Care

Breakfast Preparation & Service

  • Scottish Breakfast preparation & service
  • Kitchen & dining room hygiene and cleaning based on HACCP procedures
  • Preparation of cutlery and condiments
  • Composting & refuse disposal
  • Weekly deep cleaning of food prep areas
  • Efficient and friendly service of breakfast, ensuring tour groups depart on time

Reception Duties & Customer Care

  • Telephone answering and basic administration duties
  • Booking reservations via phone & web
  • Dealing with callers, representatives, maintenance contractors and deliveries
  • Check-in of tour passengers and independent guests
  • Liaison with Driver Guides & Head Office
  • Till operation & cash handling
  • Knowledge of local activities, attractions, and places of interest
  • Knowledge of Highland Explorer Tours and other tour products
  • Teamwork with other divisions to ensure seamless customer service
  • General Customer Service and Care

Extra Duties

  • Basic Maintenance
  • Gardening
  • Posting on our Social Media pages
  • Maintaining external appearance of hostel
  • Assist other staff when required
  • Adherence to Licensing, Environmental Health and Health and safety regulations

Work Pattern:

  • Monday to Sunday
  • 40+ hours per week over 5 or 6 days (with more worked in peak summer and less in low season)
  • Flexible hours generally between 6am and 11pm
  • 28 days paid holidays per annum (including public holidays) with additional days for long service as per Company Policy

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Experience of hospitality and/or customer service essential
  • Experience of providing catering service
  • Computer skills
  • Experience of working in a team
  • Sociable, lively personality and sense of humour essential!

Desirable

  • Basic Health and Hygiene Certificate
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Experience of independent international travel
