Head Chef, Singl-end café bakehouse – Merchant city
Salary – Approx. £25,000 - £28,000 per annum plus tips, salary dependent on experience and suitability of the right candidate
The Singl-end Café Bakehouse are seeking a head chef to come in join and lead the opening of a new singl-end café bakehouse in the heart of the merchant city. Since the opening the the singl-end Garnethill 2 years ago we have successfully grown our business and reputation we are now looking to expand by bringing the singl-end into the heart of Glasgow city centre. Our food is based on using locally sourced ingredients and cooking them to traditional recipes which allow the quality of ingredients to shine and is heavily vegetarian and gluten free influenced.
We are looking for someone to come in who can appreciate how successful and popular the singl-end has become and recreate this vibe and style of cooking in the new location of the merchant city. Owners and front of house management will support and work with you on a daily basis to bring this idea to fruition. At times you will expected to work individually and as part of a larger team. Duties will include rota planning, staff recruitment & training, menu organising & budgeting, compliance with food hygenie legislation (cooksafe), stock control, staff management and all other common areas of kitchen organisation.
Ideal candidate should be able to balance the importance that is placed on front of house service with the organisation skills required to fulfil the back of house procedures that allow us to ensure compliance with all food safety regulation. They will hopefully use the talent and experience of the team of chefs that has been put in place so they can delegate responsibilities and be able to contribute creatively to the direction the Singl-end merchant city will go in.
English language skills essential and current elementary (or higher) food hygenie certificate helpful, although training will be provided.
Hours - Full time hours 45-50hrs per week, hours dependent on rota and staff holidays. Although the singl-end is largely a 8am-5pm operation we are looking to expand the food business through functions, event dinners and outside catering operations.
