Commis Chef (Live in) required for busy island hotel
The Argyll Hotel is a 17 bedroom hotel and restaurant located off the West Coast of Scotland on the island of Iona. Iona is a very popular holiday destination with tourists being attracted by its beautiful beaches, outstanding views and ancient abbey. Both the hotel and restaurant are highly regarded and consequently the kitchen is extremely busy during the season.
The kitchen prides itself on working with local ingredients which also includes using the fresh organic produce from the hotel garden.
We currently have a vacancy for a Commis Chef, starting on 22nd March and finishing on 20th October.
The position involves working 5 days out of 7 in the kitchen.
The ideal candidate will be punctual, hardworking and conscientious. They will be a strong team player, have an excellent eye for detail and be able to work under their own initiative when required.
They should have experience of prep work with fresh meat, fish and vegetables, basic pastry work, larder and service. They will have at least one year experience as a Commis Chef and be looking to further develop their own skills. There would be an opportunity for progression for the right candidate.
Competitive rates of pay for the right candidate as well as a share of tips (averaged over £250 per month last year).
Accommodation can be provided with a small deduction made from wages to cover the cost.
