People needed to become a driver/chauffeur for a disabled man, who is a senior academic at the University of Reading and the University of Bristol.
The work will involve driving the man in his own car. The driver will be needed 3 days a week (weekdays only, e.g. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). 1 of those days will be Reading-based and 2 of those days will be Bristol-based.
For the Reading day, the work will involve getting to the man’s house (in central Reading) in the morning, driving him (plus his Personal Assistant) to the University of Reading, waiting, and then driving him back at the end of the day. Likewise, for the Bristol day - collecting the man from his house (in central Reading) in the morning, driving to Bristol, waiting, and driving back at the end of the day.
The work times will vary, but likely to be 8 AM - 6 PM for the 2 Bristol days and 10 AM - 4 PM for the Reading day.
£12 per hour for the actual driving time, then minimum wage (£7.83 for over 25s, as of February 2018) for the waiting time. Journey times are approximately 2 hours each way from Reading > Bristol, and 30 minutes each way from central Reading > the University of Reading.
Note: during the waiting times, either in Reading or Bristol, the driver will be at liberty to do as they wish, leaving the car and returning at the agreed time.
The work will suit people who enjoy driving, and who are confident yet extremely competent under all sorts of driving conditions (including motorway driving). A full, clean UK driving licence is required, and this will be checked for all potential candidates. Punctuality, commitment and reliability are key, as well as an outgoing and friendly disposition
