We are a Pentecostal Christian church in West Yorkshire, a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) worldwide. We are in need of a vibrant, motivated and inspirational person with an in-depth understanding of the Christian doctrine and Redeemed Christian Church of God’s values, to lead the youth and children’s department in the position of a Pastor. This individual will be self-motivated, non-judgemental, honest and open, with an ability to encourage the youth and children to achieve the best that they can.

Responsibilities of the Youth Pastor and Children’s Departmental Lead

  • Be in charge of the leadership and management of the youth and children’s department under the supervision of the pastor-in-charge
  • Oversee the allocation of volunteer teachers into classes, and operate an effective rota system them
  • Coordinating, developing and managing the weekly running of the youth and children’s department and also during special church events
  • Managing the budget for the department
  • Reporting to the Pastor-in-charge and other relevant ministers on the ideas and developmental needs of the departments as well as its progress
  • Facilitating the provision of feedback to parents on the progress of their children
  • Organising the departmental calendar of events made up of relevant activities through the week and also on Sundays
  • Organising events to aid the development of talents and interest of children and youths such as instrumental lessons, youth and children retreat
  • Maintaining and promoting confidentiality as required
  • Providing supervision for other departmental teachers
  • Assessing and maintaining the health and safety procedures of the department, ensuring that the youths and children learning facilities are up to standard
  • Teaching the RCCG Sunday School departmental curriculum
  • Facilitate spiritual development of the teachers
  • Liaise with other ministers within the church during events
  • Attending youth ministers’ conferences, and trainings as required and also representing the church
  • Liaising with the RCCG UK Director of Youth as required
  • Developing and maintaining strong links with the community, helping the children and youth have a positive impact outside of the church
  • Collaborating with other churches in hosting inspiring and motivational programmes for the children and youths
  • Ensuring that children and youths with difficulties are appropriately supported with adequate measures to promote their involvement and learning
  • Recruiting and training volunteers for the department

Qualification, skills and experience Requirements

Essential Qualification and Skills

  • 5 years’ experience of working and teaching within a bible believing youth/children’s church
  • Certificate of School of Discipleship or must be willing to complete with the church within 8-12 months
  • Must possess excellent IT skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of RCCG doctrines.
  • Be fluent in English, and one other language
  • Good communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Excellent team working skills
  • Able to plan activities to effectively engage youth and children
  • Genuine interest in working with youth and children
  • Be a Pentecostal Christian
  • Good working knowledge of the Bible

Desirable Qualification,

  • University degree
  • Health and Safety Qualification
  • Should hold a clean UK driving licence
