We are looking for a Commis Chef to join our kitchen team within the John McIntyre Conference Centre at Pollock Halls of Residence. As the key provider of residential and catering services in the University of Edinburgh we serve over 20,000 meals each week. Additionally our kitchens supply a thriving conference and function trade and a developing outside catering business.
Working 5 days out of 7 in rotation, your key duties will include the preparation of daily salad bar and breakfast, preparing and cooking breakfast/dinner at front or back of house to a high standard within our 3 established bed and breakfast hotels, and also assisting chefs with food preparation and food presentation and production. You will have good food preparation and cooking skills and be looking to improve your catering knowledge with further training. Previous experience within the catering industry is essential. We currently hold the Healthy Living award in 10 of our units and Edinburgh was the first University in the UK to achieve the Food for the Brain and Food for Life awards.
