Assistant Designer / Junior Designer (Jewellery)

Maximising the profitability of the brand, by developing and helping deliver the product range to support the Brand strategy in order to achieve the KPIs
* Working with Buying to deliver a commercial range that consistently meets and exceeds the customer's needs, whilst satisfying the host's expectations
* Coaching and developing the Design team

Responsibilities for the Junior Jewellery Designer role:-

Far East
* Direct the Far East Design team through inspiration and product development packs
* Oversee the Far East PD factory development
* Liaise with Far East to develop seasonal press samples
* Undertake Far East development trips individually or with Buyer

UK
* Translate host clothing trends and colour palettes into relevant jewellery stories
* Build a strong relationship with the host, attend host meetings and ensure all suggestions are actioned
* Responsible for the management of the day to day junior members of the Design team
* Undertake range building with Buyers
* Attend second look, range sign off and trade meetings as required
* Undertake regular competitive shop reports and present back to the rest of the team
* Conduct monthly brand store visits with Buyers
* Report any concerns, risks and opportunities to Head of Design. Responsible for the direct Press concepts, work with PR and Buying

Brand Design Responsibilities
* Drive newness through colour palettes and trends
* Develop new product types, concepts, and packaging ideas
* Drive new and better making techniques
* Drive and implement new and efficient design processes and ways of working
* Identify gaps in the market and be first to market with new innovative profiles and product areas
* Responsible for the cost of individual components and production methods in order to keep costs down and achieve keen price points
* Responsible for leading first looks through colour, trend, handmade and design sheets
* Working closely with Buyers to delivery commercial ranges that consistently meets and exceeds the
customer needs whilst satisfying host expectations
* Coaching and developing the junior members of the Design team
* Build strong relationships between designers and the Buying teams
* Be reactive to own brand and general trading patterns by reviewing weekly trade. Action best reactions immediately
* Responsible for the management of his or her brand's design critical path

External
* Responsible for copy right infringements when developing product
* Manage external collaborations with designers, companies and Central Saint Martins from concept to final product
* Undertake inspiration shopping trips and visit trade shows both locally and overseas. Think globally across the business on these occasions not just brand specific
* Ad-hoc duties as required
* Any other duties which may reasonably be required

Requirements for the Junior Jewellery Designer role:
BA Honours in jewellery, fashion or textiles or relevant jewellery experience
* Must be able to demonstrate product, brand and market awareness
* Be fully aware of jewellery buying process and critical path
* Experience in contemporary jewellery design, knowledgeable of current trends, colour and first to market product areas
* Excellent skills in presentation, communication and managing and developing a team.
* Experience of the Far East, including travel, efficient modes of communication and global comp shops
