Children's Support Assistant / Care Worker
Do you want to support children and young people who have complex health needs and disabilities in their everyday lives? Supporting families to care for their children at home, school and other community settings.
NurtureCare Ltd is a small award-winning company whose prime aim is to provide high quality care to children and young people who have complex and life-threatening conditions.
We work with the NHS to provide care from hospital discharge to end of life care.
We have vacancies for Level 1 Support Assistants and Level 2 Support Workers.
We’re looking for caring and passionate people who take a real pride in what they do and are motivated to provide a consistently high standard of care to children with complex health needs at home, school and in the community.
As a carer you will be working predominantly in the family home. The children have a variety of health and communication needs and some are non-verbal. You will therefore need a sensitive and caring approach, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and good attention to detail. While part of a close-knit team, you need to be self-motivated and enjoy working independently.
It is desirable but not essential for you to have some experience of working with children with complex and life-limited health needs.
It is essential that you want to work with children and young people.
Excellent training and support
All of our Carers receive full training by our children’s nursing team in looking after children with complex needs before working alone with the children and families. Our specially designed training room recreates a child’s bedroom and has all the equipment needed to teach our staff how to care for a child, including ventilators, suction machine, and mannequins to enable demonstration and practical skills training in tracheostomy care.
We are a service that covers 24 hours a day care, seven days a week so our team works a rota pattern. As most of the children have care plans that provide support at night (nights shifts are between 10 to 12 hours overnight) There are a high number of night shifts bt we also have evenings, day shifts and weekends. Night duty shifts can offer flexibility for people with children of their own, who can be back in time to take their children to school in the morning and put them to bed at night before going to work. We work across the whole of Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Lincoln and Derbyshire so a flexible approach to travelling is essential. Travel expenses are paid for mileage over 20 miles per shift.
We wish to appoint committed, caring staff who want to provide excellent care and support, for both personal and health care needs to the children and young people in our care.
