The Bedford Arms in Oakley is looking for an experienced chef to join their established kitchen troop. You will be required to work full time hours and we can offer a competitive live in salary or hourly rate.
You will either have a lot of experience as a commis chef/demi chef de partie & looking to take the next step up the ranks to Chef de Partie or are already there & looking for a change in place of work. We have plenty of opportunity to grow & progress within the family run business.
So a little bit about us...
We are a lovely fresh food pub/restaurant and have been here for a year taking the business from strength to strength. Sitting over 100 cover inside & lots more in our walled garden during the summer months. Our emphasis is on honest, delicious food that doesn't involve too much fuss. The community is at the heart of our little place meaning that we hold regular & popular events for adults & children alike.
Responsibilities and Duties
As a chef de partie you get to oversee a section of the kitchen, be it pastry, butchery, fish, sauces, vegetables and so on.
- Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes within your speciality
- Managing and training any demi-chef de parties or commis working with you
- Helping the sous chef and head chef to develop new dishes and menus
- Ensuring you and your team have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety
- Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margin
You will have great time keeping, juggling multiple jobs at one time and have a bubbly personality mixing with our current team.
Qualifications and Skills
Previous experience as a commis chef or demi chef de partie is essential.
Preferably hold a certificate in food hygiene & safety although not essential as this can be provided with online training.
Competitive rate of pay.
