Margot is a small, independent bakery in East Finchley, North London serving our loyal regulars and wholesale customers with fantastic sourdough, cakes and pastries which are all produced on site. All of our pastries and bread are naturally leavened with sourdough.

We have an opening for a pastry chef who plays a key role in the bakery; preparing and decorating the pastries, cookies, cakes that fill the counter every day. You will laminate and shape pastries, bake cakes for orders and for the counter and be able to develop recipes and respond to demand in the shop. 

The bakery is busy and you will need to be able to work under pressure and organise your time well. You will work closely with the bread bakers and some tasks are shared with them. High standards of food safety and hygiene are essential as is a good eye for presentation and attention to detail.

You should have experience in a busy kitchen environment in a similar role, perhaps as an assistant pastry chef. It is a good opportunity for someone who enjoys having some creative input and who would enjoy working in a small team in a growing business. As the bakery continues to expand there is potential to develop a team and to refine the systems currently in place and to implement new ones.

Weekend shifts are required and if you live locally it will be beneficial for 5am/6am starts (no night shifts though!). You will work 40 hours over 5 days out of 7 with two consecutive days off. Starting salary £20 800 to be reviewed after three months.
