We have a new exciting opportunity, not to be missed! At Anglia Revenues Partnership we are currently looking for a Non Domestic Rates (NDR) Revenues Officer to support the team at Breckland Council. You will join the team on a Full Time (37 hours per week), Permanent basis and will receive a competitive salary of £17,128 – £22,668 per annum.

The aim of Anglia Revenues Partnership is to run an efficient Council Tax collection and Housing benefits distribution service while reducing administration costs to each council. By coming together, each council can save money by pooling resources and staff.

As our Non Domestic Rates (NDR) Revenues Officer you will be part of a team maintaining the Business Rates register, applying appropriate reductions and collecting unpaid rates. You will assist in the billing, collection & recovery of Council Tax/Business Rates, ensuring Council Tax /Business Rates income is received promptly & efficiently.

Key responsibilities of the Non Domestic Rates (NDR) Revenues Officer

- Administer and process all types of council tax/business rates billing and recovery functions, within agreed targets, including the negotiation of payment arrangements and the monitoring of subsequent recovery.

- Deal with customer correspondence and enquiries in person, by email, by telephone or by letter, providing an excellent, polite and courteous public service at all times.

- Deal with reports and other general tasks that are the responsibility of the Revenues Department.

- Liaise with all departments of the council/ARP, government departments, external bodies such as Debtors, Bailiffs, Enforcement Agents, Valuation Office and members of the general public.

- Process all types of Council Tax or Business Rates enquires by operating various IT systems within targets set at any time.

- Be familiar with and keep own knowledge up to date regarding Council Tax or Business Rates legislation, process, procedures and policies.

- Liaise closely with all Revenues and benefits staff to ensure a smooth and seamless service to the public.

- Assist the council’s representative at court if required.

- Handle telephone queries from members of the public and other stakeholders

- Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required and compatible with and/or arising from those listed above or directed by a Head of Service.

- This post can be based at any of the offices within the Anglia Revenues Partnership. (Thetford, March, Lowestoft and Woodbridge).

 What we’re looking for in our Non Domestic Rates (NDR) Revenues Officer

- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to deal with conflict.

- Good general education - 2 GCSE grades, A-C or relevant Revenues experience.

- Knowledge of computer packages, including the Microsoft Suite and have the sufficient knowledge and skill to be able to use computers effectively.


- Recent experience of working in a busy office environment or have relevant qualifications in this field.

- Demonstrate knowledge of Council Tax / Business rates regulations

- Demonstrate an awareness of Sundry debts and their collection

 - Working knowledge of Academy and Civica (Comino) IT systems.
