Do you want to change the way that people cook in the UK? Are you looking for a job that you won’t be able to stop telling other people about? Are you a brilliant writer, full of imagination and creativity, and a lover of fantastic food from around the world? Then read on…..

The Spicery is a unique and highly innovative business - creating, making and then selling recipe kits direct to tens of thousands of customers around the world. We’re now looking for a f/t Product Developer to help bring our new ideas together, then manage them through the development process until they emerge as finished products that our customers will love!

The role would involve a significant amount of creative input to initiate discussion internally with our development team, as well as suggesting new ideas and looking for ways to fine-tune our existing products in terms of their written or visual content. You’d also be expected to be aware of, and monitor current trends in the marketplace so that you help to keep us ahead of the competition.

You would be managing the development process from concept through to a finished product within an established development structure, reporting directly to our managing director. The role would involve working alongside our development chefs (including some time in the kitchen testing the recipes yourself!), and our in-house designer to work on print and packaging. This would involve obsessive attention to detail and working at all times with an extremely high level of accuracy.

A key characteristic for this role would be being able to combine imagination and enthusiasm with a very strong commercial sense. You would refer to our sales data as well as customer research to keep finding new ways to extend and improve our existing product range, as well as introducing popular new concepts and product ideas.

As always, previous experience is useful but energy, aptitude and enthusiasm are just as important!

You will need:
A good eye, good taste and genuine interest in good food from around the world
A very high degree of literacy with the ability to express the voice of the brand in all relevant print and packaging
A careful, methodical nature and extraordinary attention to detail
Some project management experience (or at least the organisational skills and self-discipline that will keep the pipeline of new products running smoothly)
A creative and curious mind, interested in, and excited by new ideas
Your finger on the pulse of current trends within the market
To be friendly, personable and happy to spend your working day covered in a light dusting of ground spices!

and in return for this you get …
A fantastic, spicy lunch every day
Freshly ground coffee every morning and beers after each monthly dispatch
Central location (1 mile from the City Centre)
Friendly & relaxed work culture
Spicy travel grants to discover more fantastic food from around the world
Annual streetfood party
Your favourite meal on your birthday for the whole team
Free spices for your own cooking at home
Free food for testing recipes at home
And of course, the thrill of creating new and exciting products that our customers will love!
