Family Mosaic has an exciting opportunity for a Housing Support Worker to join the team based at Bernard Brett House, Colchester.  You will be on a full time permanent basis 37.5 hours per week and be offered a competitive salary of £18,250 + £32 sleep in rate, plus excellent benefits.

The successful candidate for our Housing Support Worker will need to be flexible in their approach, demonstrate an understanding of issues faced by young people and have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).

As our Housing Support Worker you will provide support to individual customers through a process of assessment, support planning and reviews. Working with the customers you will ensure that all requirements of their tenancy are adhered to, and to promote opportunities by which our customers will be enabled to develop independent living skills. Your experience working with young people will ensure that our customers views are sought and heard in relation to organisation and support issues and involve them in the decision making processes whereby individuals and groups take on responsibilities for themselves and others. 

To become our successful candidate for Housing Support Worker you will need to have experience of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults, develop support plans with customers, be organised with excellent administrative skills and able to keep accurate records.  They will also need to be able to work in challenging situations and have experience of working with vulnerable young people.

The working pattern is over a 4 week rolling rota that will include 1-2 sleep in duties per week

About the service:

Bernard Brett House provides support and accommodation for young people being referred through the Essex County Council gateway.  The service accommodates and supports 16 – 17 year old care leavers and 18 – 21 year olds who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
