Engineering Technician - General accountabilities:
• Production shift cover for breakdown maintenance
• Set up of production machinery for product changes
• Carry out planned maintenance activities to ensure plant safety & reliability
• Maintenance of site facilities where possible
• Responsibility for an “area” of the factory to include procurements of spare parts and maintaining a stock holding to minimise plant downtime
• Project engineering – hands on equipment improvement

Specifics Tasks (NOT an exhaustive list):

• Promote a safety first culture for all maintenance activities
• Carry out preparation work in accordance with requirements for statutory inspections
• Write PM worksheets with safety as the prime concern when carrying out a given task
• Ensure PM tasks are supported by Risk Assessment
• Fire Marshall and First Aid cover if trained to do so
• Control work through Permit to Work system where appropriate
• Ensure maintenance work is documented and carried out to ensure product quality is of the highest standard
• Support QA department to provide records of all activities carried out that could affect product quality
• Be flexible to ensure holiday cover across shifts
• Develop and deliver training for operators on equipment function and operation
• Assist with training of other Technicians and Operators as required
Plant and Equipment:
• Ownership for a particular area of the plant to be the “expert” for this area whilst still ensuring others are well trained and informed within this area.
• Control spare stock holding and procurement through JDE linking into PM system
• Continuous improvement of the plant to drive up quality and efficiency
• Provide hands-on maintenance of equipment
• Provide in depth technical knowledge in accordance with skill & experience, this may be in the areas of mechanical services, boiler operator accreditation, electrical plant safety, PLC interrogation & programming, computer process control etc.
• Control and liaise with contract labour for specialist task and service contract work
24 hr picture:
• Be aware of site performance throughout the shift and support others to achieve daily targets for safety, quality and output
• Ensure all work is logged either through daily log books, statutory record sheets, PM worksheet completion etc.

Night shift 6pm to 6am. 3 nights a week either Sunday to Tuesday or Wednesday
to Friday
