Brooksby Melton College has an exciting opportunity for an Estates Assistant to join the team based in Brooksby. You will be on a full time permanent contract, with a highly competitive salary of £18,309 per annum.

BMC is a specialist vocational Further and Higher Education provider in Leicestershire, based on two main campuses – one in the heart of the lively market town of Melton Mowbray and the other on an 850-acre estate at Brooksby.

We require an experienced Estates Assistant to join our Estates team, which works across the Melton and Brooksby campuses.  You will be expected to maintain the building’s operation, including the provision of heating and appropriate access for users of college facilities. You will carry out security procedures by securing the college estate and activating alarms.  Other duties will include the maintenance of doors, windows and locks to ensure a secure environment.  You will also be expected to challenge visitors for college identification or purpose of visit.

You will be required to partake in the estates out of hours call out rota between the hours of 19:00 – 7:00hrs (Mon – Sun) for emergency repairs and alarm activations etc. The call out rota will be managed by the estates coordinator.

It is essential that applicants have previous experience within a similar Estates/Caretaking role, including locking up of buildings, working within a customer-focussed environment and have a proven track record of a high standard of work as well as knowledge of safe working practices and procedures is necessary.

Previous experience of using Microsoft Office and Facilities Management computer packages within a working environment to ensure accurate records is also essential.

A full UK driving licence is essential and a First Aid at Work certificate (or willingness to work towards) is desirable. A construction trades’ qualification would also be an advantage.
