Purpose

* To provide a specialist casework service to private tenants at risk if homelessness because of the impact of welfare reform.
* To ensure that a project management approach is applied to mitigate the impact of welfare reform on private tenants, and to report on these cases throughout the project timeline.
* Act within guidelines and standard procedures with discretion to allocate or otherwise organise work to meet service delivery requirements.
* Usually works within laid down procedures but needs to deal with day-today problems without always referring to others.
* Decisions will be made based on Council and legislative policies and procedures
* Responsible for meeting performance standards within a policy framework and regulatory guidelines.
* Knowledge of welfare benefits and their impact on private tenants
* Knowledge of housing options for private tenants and homeless households.
* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
* Ability to influence and negotiate on behalf of customers
* Ability to interpret complex numerical data and information.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise between competing priorities
* Ability to use own initiative to meet targets deadlines whilst maintaining a caring approach to residents.
* Excellent uunderstanding of the welfare benefit systems, calculations and methodologies of benefit entitlement.
* Experience of taking ownership of actions and delivering improvements for the customer
