Fundraisers required for the Newport Fundraising Group for the Royal Air Forces Association

Fundraisers supporting the RAF Association’s Wings Appeal collections throughout the year are integral to the charity, contributing to fundraising efforts which help to ensure that members of the RAF family that need our help are able to access support when required.

A Fundraiser is part of a team raising funds for the RAF Association, in their town, city or local area. Funds are raised through street and premises (e.g. supermarket) collections and other activities organised by the Fundraising Team Leader volunteer in the area or by the Association.


With the opportunity to meet new people and become part of a team, as well as the chance to help us raise our profile in your community, this role is a flexible for those who can commit to either one or two collections a year, as well as for those who can help more regularly.

Duties of a Fundraiser include:
• Carrying out street and premises collections, holding a collection tin or bucket, as per instructions given by the Fundraising Team Leader.
• Engaging with the public regarding the Association and its work and providing key facts about the charity. Thanking donators for their contributions.
• Helping to count money after an event.
• Any other help which may be required on the day, working with the team.

Fundraisers needs to be:
• Approachable, cheerful and friendly
• Enthusiastic and able to take a positive approach to all situations
• A good communicator and comfortable in a range of social environments
• Reliable and committed to any event they sign up to support

In addition they need to be able to:
• Get to and from a fundraising collection event
• Be willing to share emergency contact details with Fundraising Team Leader
• Be able to stand for long periods of time or to arrange seating if necessary
• Be able to hold a full collection tin
• Be willing to wear an RAF Association T-shirt, sash or tabard

All volunteers should be able to work in a non-judgemental and professional manner.
Fundraising volunteers will be given training on the day of the event they are supporting.
Out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed in line with the RAF Association volunteering and expenses policies.
Volunteers should be 18 years of age or over.
