Contract Type
Are you looking for a new challenge with great learning and development opportunities?

With services throughout Midlothian we are always looking for people to join us and make a difference to the lives of autistic people and their families.

You don’t need to have experience in support work as we will train you, although we do look for candidates to have an interest in autism and enthusiasm to learn more about it. Qualifications aren’t essential either, however, you must be willing to work towards a relevant qualification and register with the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme and Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) if you are successful.

As a Support Worker you will help people to reach their potential. You will work with each person to do what they need and want to do, so you’ll need to be up for being involved in anything from cooking and cleaning, visiting the dentist, hill walking, to going to clubs or university.

Working with people with a range of abilities can present challenges so you’ll need to be a patient person who can calmly adapt your communication style. You’ll also be comfortable completing documents and reports and sharing your observations and thoughts with your colleagues and other professionals in order to provide the best possible service. Some of the people we support use their own cars for routine tasks and trips further afield so we’re particularly keen to hear from people who would be willing to drive (full driving license required).

Salary scale £16,796 - £18,557 / £8.25 per hour (under review)
Full-time, Part-time & Relief positions available
Shifts may include evenings, weekends & occasional sleepovers
