How it works
Our moderation team works 24/7, 365 days a year to review ads and replies flagged by users and our automated systems. Adverts that we believe are malicious or don’t meet our posting policies are quickly taken down and we have ways to restrict site access for users that take part in suspicious activity.
How we stay up to date
Our systems and rules are constantly updated, thanks to our risk analysis team. This team helps prevent high-risk and inappropriate content from appearing on Gumtree. We identify fraudster patterns and use innovative technology to tackle new techniques that fraudsters try to use. We also detect and swiftly remove other sites that pretend to be Gumtree in order to protect our users.
Who we work with
By using the latest technology and employing constant analysis, we try to stay a step ahead of anyone trying to misuse our platform. We also have partnerships with law enforcement and government agencies, as well as groups such as Action Fraud, and do everything we can to support them.
How you can help
Our aim is to make Gumtree a secure environment in which to buy and sell. However, would-be fraudsters are always finding new ways to test our systems. We encourage you to report any suspicious behaviour that you encounter on Gumtree, whether it’s part of an ad or a reply that you receive for one.
