A Gumtree profile is the key to building trust when buying, selling, or trading on Gumtree. Every member has a profile that shows important details like reviews, response times, and how long they’ve been active. Whether you’re checking a buyer’s profile before replying to a message or viewing a seller’s profile before making a purchase, understanding how Gumtree profiles work helps you trade with confidence.
When you click on a member’s profile, you can see up to 6 pieces of information:
- Their chosen name
- Their average response time
- How long they’ve been posting ads on Gumtree
- Whether or not they have any active ads
- The reviews they’ve received from other members
Viewing a buyer’s profile
When a buyer sends you a message, you’ll be able to view their profile (if they have previous ratings). To see their profile:
- Go into your Message section.
- Select the message from the buyer whose profile you want to view.
- Click on the buyer’s name at the top of their message.
If you don’t see any stars or can’t click on their name, they don’t have any ratings yet.
Viewing a seller’s profile
Whether you’re a buyer, or wanting to view your own seller profile, you can do so by following the steps below:
- Open the seller’s Ad.
- On the right side, you’ll see the seller information section. From here you can see the most important parts of their profile.
- For more details, click View Profile.
- Use the tabs to toggle back and forth from Live ads to Reviews.
Missing information
A user’s profile will be mostly blank if they’re new to Gumtree or don’t message other buyers or sellers very often. With each response sent, their averages will be determined. Once they’ve hit the enough replies to create a general average, it will appear on their profile.
