Gumtree now offers a faster, easier, and more secure way to make and receive payments for eligible items purchased with delivery.
Paying for Your Item
At checkout, buyers can pay using:
- Visa or Mastercard debit and credit cards
- Apple Pay
Payments are processed and securely held in a virtual wallet managed by our trusted payment partner, Mangopay.
Releasing Funds to the Seller
The seller receives payment once either:
- The buyer confirms they’re happy with the item, or
- 48 hours have passed since delivery was confirmed by the carrier and no dispute has been raised.
Please note ID verification is needed when the total funds released reach £150. Without this, further funds can’t be released.
Security and Privacy
All payment and bank details are securely collected and transmitted directly to Mangopay.
Gumtree does not store full card numbers or bank account information.
Please note:
- Cards must be UK-registered and payments made in GBP.
- Not all payment methods are available to every customer.
- Amex, Diners Club, corporate cards, cheques, money orders, and bank transfers are not supported.
Payment Limits and Eligibility
For items with delivery enabled, secure payment through Gumtree is available for eligible items up to £250.
Where payment on Gumtree is available, the ‘Buy now’ button will appear on the Ad.
