Toyota Celica
A crown jewel in Toyota’s history, the Celica was in production from 1970-2006, with the most recent iteration available starting in 1999. A coupe with sportscar good looks, it’s known for the sharp handling and light controls that come from its independent front suspension. You’ll find it available in three engine sizes: 1.6-litre, 2.0-litre and 2.2-litre, with the top-of-the-range 2.2-litre R-G proving most sought-after for classic Toyota enthusiasts. Newer versions have ABS, alloys and electric windows, and some also have leather seats and climate control. There were various short-run special editions towards the latter end of production, so look out for these if you’re in the market for something a little bit different. The Celica is the perfect balance of an older car that looks as good as it feels on the road.
