The Skoda Kamiq takes naming inspiration from an Inuit word meaning “something that is perfectly in place” – that nicely sums up this well put-together car. A brilliant embodiment of sportiness and simplicity, this five-seater crossover SUV comes in four TDI and DSG engine types – three petrol engines and one diesel. They can be paired with a six-speed manual transmission or an optional seven-speed automatic. While the Kamiq is only available in one subcompact body type, which limits your choice, it’s reasonably priced and has some worthwhile optional extras. It’s also well-loved for its unique ability to glide over potholes without issues, making it a great choice for road trips and distance driving.
