Land Rover Defender
On the list of iconic British cars, the Land Rover Defender may well sit at the very top. A true off-road staple, the original Landie – the Series I – first entered the market in 1948. It’s since been introduced in various body styles, including pick-ups and double-caps. But no matter what iteration, the Defender has kept its spirit. In 2016, to the dismay of Britain’s petrol-heads, the model was taken out of production due to safety and emissions concerns. But there’s a new ‘defender’ of the title from 2020, with some sizeable improvements for on-road comfort, up-to-date safety specs and slightly modernised styling. Powerful and sturdier than ever, this reborn Defender is already charming old fans and new.
