• Do you know if this is an aggressive species that needs a tank to itself?
• Have you visited the fish in its current home?
• Are they being kept in a clean and safe environment?
• Do you have a vet that specialises in fish health nearby?
• Do you have space in your home to keep this fish?
• Do you have the specialist equipment set up at home before you buy this fish?

If the answer to any of these questions is no, think twice before you take the fish home with you. If you have any concerns about a fish's welfare, report the advert to Gumtree or you can contact the RSPCA directly.
