Rehoming a pet online

If you can't keep your pet, you'll want to make sure they find a happy new home. Here are Gumtree's top tips for rehoming your pet online:

Be honest about your pet's behaviour and medical history.
Screen potential owners carefully and if possible, visit them at home.
Don't be afraid to ask for a vet's reference, or photograph your pet with their new owner.
Be ready to offer advice or support while your pet is settling in to their new home.
If you can't find a good home for your pet, contact your local shelter/rescue centre for help.
Collect face to face, to avoid your pet being transported, and protect yourself from fraudsters.
