GREEN FAMILY FUN AT MOORS VALLEY COUNTRY PARK
Environmentally friendly family entertainment powered by renewable energy comes to Moors Valley Country Park on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 April when the Green Family Fair visits for the first time.
The Fair will include a special ethical and environmental market with local traders selling natural beauty treats, green cleaning and household products, beautiful hand crafted goods and much more. Pampering treatments will also be available at the holistic and healing therapies area and local campaign groups, charities and voluntary organisations will have displays and stalls with information about their projects and community issues.
Visitors can go on a wild food foray, follow a quiz trail, have their faces painted and take part in fun arts and crafts workshops using recycled materials. There will also be talks and workshops on topics such as permaculture and the transition movement.
In keeping with the environmental theme, a solar powered stage, by Floating Lotus, will showcase local musicians and performers while the Beggars Banquet Music Cafe from Shaftsbury will serve up a delicious range of locally-sourced vegetarian and vegan organic food.
The Green Family Fair is sponsored by Sustainable Wood Energy Ltd of Wimborne, which has recently installed a new biomass boiler system in the Parks Visitor Centre. The boiler uses wood chip to provide heat and hot water and is expected to reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 92% as well as saving up to 25% on the Parks current fuel bill.
Entry to the fair is free of charge, although usual parking fees will apply.
Fair organiser, Sam Monks said, Moors Valley is a wonderful local resource and offers an ideal venue for the Green Family Fair.
We want families to come along, have some fun and, hopefully, go away thinking about how we can all reduce our impact on the planet and plan a better future for our children.
And there is still time for people to get involved either as exhibitors or volunteers. Anyone interested in finding out more can contact me on 01202 386348.
Details of the Green Family Fair can be viewed at www.greencommunityfair.co.uk along with a video and photographs of the last event.
