Exciting Volunteering Vacancies at SHAD
SHAD is a London-based charity which provides volunteers to physically disabled people to allow them to live independently - allowing them to do what they want to do, when they want to do it and how they want to do it.
We are looking for people who:
• would like to develop their knowledge of working with people with disabilities
• are available for 4-12 months
• enjoy working with people and have good communication skills
• speak a good level of conversational English
• are flexible, responsible and reliable
• are open minded with a commitment to equal opportunities
• want to understand the concept of independent living
• Can start immediately or in the near future
We offer:
• rent free (shared) accommodation with all utility bills and council tax paid - free unlimited internet access in all our flats
• a monthly living allowance of £260 (i.e. £60/week)
• travel expenses to projects
• gain NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care in 3 months
• at no cost to you, just for performing your tasks
• first aid, manual handling and wheelchair skills training
• generous time off and opportunities for cover shifts
• a chance to gain experience and meet new people
Working with SHAD is a great opportunity for individuals wishing to gain work experience, particularly those wishing to gain hands on practical experience and insight into the world of disability. It would also suit students on summer vacation or a gap year and graduates wishing to gain work experience.
