We are seeking an experienced and mature (28+) senior special needs nanny to join an existing senior nanny to work with two delightful children, ‘A’ (4.5) and ‘B’ (1). (There will be 2 to 3 nannies altogether to look after the 2 children; ‘A’'s condition means he needs a lot of attention). ‘A’ has a rare muscular disease called nemaline myopathy, neuromuscular disorder that causes muscle weakness. He needs medical attention and physical assistance at all times. The condition affects mainly his gross motor skills; his fine motor skills are about age appropriate. He eats three meals during daytime. At night he is fed mainly via a G/J (Gestric Jejunal) tube. ‘A’ has respiratory difficulties and he currently uses a Bipap, a non invasive ventilator whilst sleeping. ‘A’ needs monitoring during his sleep. He is a very bright little boy and enjoys school. Due to his health he misses school quite a lot so the family are looking into establishing more structured education plan at home. Home therapy is also included in his daily activities. ‘B’ is an active and outgoing toddler, who is very physical and strong. She loves swimming and gym as well as outdoor play. The family are looking for a calm and responsible team player to join the existing team. The person will have experience of working with children with physical special needs, OT, speech, physio skills or teaching/education qualifications would be highly desirable. The nanny will be required to follow different therapy programmes and support ‘A’ to help him reach his full potential. The nanny will be positive, motivating and fun. It is essential that the nanny will be a good team player and have experience of working both sole charge and shared care basis. There will be flexible working days and times and night shifts might also be needed. The family will require the nanny to travel with them so willingness to do that is essential. Lovely family met in person by Sally at SNAP (who also met the 2 current nannies). For more information contact Alicja or Ruth.
