Sustrans are a lovely UK based charity that mean business. At the heart of their cause is sustainable transport (hence the name!)

What Sustrans Know:

-Nearly 1.5 million people in England are at high risk of suffering from transport poverty

-The latest Health Survey for England (HSE) data shows that in England in 2010, 30.3% of children (aged 2-15) were overweight or obese.

-The number of people killed on Britain's roads increased by 3% in 2011, to 1,901 the first increase since 2003. The number of pedestrians killed jumped by 12% to 453, with the biggest increases among children and the over-60s "vulnerable road users", in the jargon.

What Sustrans Are Doing About It:

We work on dozens of projects and campaigns at a time and here are just a couple of examples;

-Sustrans Bike It has 80 expert cycling officers in over 1,400 schools, helping over 380,000 children cycle safely to school.

-20 is Plenty is a campaign to get the Government to pledge to drop the speed limit in residential areas to 20 miles per hour to make the streets safer for everyone, but particularly children! Were also asking that the Government invest into more cycle routes and footpaths particularly around schools.

How can I get involved?

We have an in-house fundraising street team based in London and are looking for more passionate and inspiring members to join the Sustrans family.

We offer full time hours; Monday Friday, 10am- 6pm
In return for your hard work and dedication we pay £9/hour.
This is not commission based but you will be targeted at 2 sign ups/day.

Applicants must be over 18 years old and have excellent spoken English.
