Are you interested in working with people with physical disability? Do you enjoy a varied role? Are you adaptable to a changing routine? We are looking for a Personal Assistant to be employed directly by one of our female clients for personal care at weekends and for attending a leisure centre to swim on a weekday. A calm, flexible approach is necessary together with good communication skills for this role.
Total of 6.5 hours per week, flexible. (On Saturday and Sunday 3.5 hours total, for morning and evening calls, and on one week day (day to be agreed) maximum 3 hours, for supporting swimming/use of gym)

Job Title Personal Assistant (Part-time)
Hours 6.5 hours per week, flexible, (1.5 hours Saturday 45 minutes morning and 45 minutes evening, 2 hrs Sunday 1 hr morning and 1 hr evening, for care duties; maximum 3 hrs on a weekday to be agreed, for support at leisure centre)
Pay £8.50 gross per hour care duties
£6.08 gross per hour (minimum wage) for leisure centre Duties:

Main Role To provide assistance as detailed below.
Based at Lower Earley, Reading
Tasks to Be Undertaken
1. Personal care
o Support and guidance with daily bathing, dressing
o Put splints on, if going out
2. Support with daily tasks
o Administer medication
o Meal preparation morning and evening (breakfast, light evening meal & drinks).
o Laundry as required
o Remind when food shopping needed
o Remind about appointments and other commitments, to aid memory
3. Housework Duties
o Make bed, shake out sheet daily
o Washing up, wipe worktops and kitchen floor, defrost freezer
4. Leisure Centre Duties
o Swimming support to avoid other swimmers
o Gym position feet safely on footrest
The clients needs will vary daily and so the Personal Assistant will need to be flexible and routines may need to be changed, though any major change of Job Description would need to be discussed between employer and employee.
General you must be reliable and trustworthy; able to accept responsibility; able to work on your own and use your own initiative.
Good communication skills
Must be flexible
Ability to assess & react camly in emergency situations
Competent swimmer for support at leisure centre
Experience or aptitude to support client affected by stroke, affecting mobility
Due to the personal care element of this role, female applicants are preferred.
