A disabled gentleman is looking for a live-in carer to lodge with him in his home in Co Derry, Northern Ireland, and to assist with some light housekeeping duties.

The successful candidate will live-in from Mondays to Fridays, and will have the weekends off.

My client lives about one hour by bus from Belfast. Some caring experience is essential for this role, and experience caring for an individual with spinal injuries is highly desirable. Care-related qualifications are also desirable. Applicants should have good conversational English and be in good physical condition.

For the right person, the generous arrangement will include free accommodation and an attractive salary.

The number of additional annual leave days on offer is negotiable and will be agreed by both parties in advance.

My client’s house is a luxurious 4 bedroom detached property located in a quiet, residential area, which has been specially modified to the highest specification to cater for his lack of mobility. The chosen candidate will have their own living quarters, bathroom and a separate kitchenette.

If you’re the right candidate, you will have a fun, caring and outgoing personality, but you must also be self sufficient, resilient and be prepared to live and work independently in this rural, and very scenic, part of Northern Ireland.
The role entails helping my client to get out of bed in the mornings and helping him to get into bed in the evenings. The carer should be able to dispense medication and empty a catheter. Duties include some light housework and shopping, though the right candidate can expect to enjoy up to three hours’ of free time every day.
