We have 3 sociable, friendly daughters (aged 7 and twins of 4). We are looking for an au pair to live-in as part of our family as an extra pair of hands rather than sole charge for childcare as the mum is not absent for work but around for support daily.
We live in a nice suburb that is 15 mins by train to the city centre, close to shops, bars, restaurants and also good leisure facilities such as swimming pool, park, fitness classes. We offer a large bedroom that has a sitting area with TV/DVD, all meals will be provided as well as use of a bicycle with internet access 24/7 and we can put you in touch with other au pairs locally and give you information about language classes if you're interested.
You'll be helping us with daily life and many things we will do together as a team. We will not require you to be supervising alone for long periods of time. It will include helping with journeys to/from school & nursery, (15 minutes walk), breakfast in the mornings, helping prepare simple meals and tidying up/cleaning dishes afterwards, homework or playing with the girls, bedtimes and a little help with light housework such as laundry/ironing for the children and keeping children's toys tidy (although we have a regular cleaner so no major cleaning needed). There will also be a small amount of infrequent evening and weekend babysitting.
Free time will be Saturday and Sunday all day, as well as different times (mornings and afternoons) of the week when the children are at school/nursery and activities (around any light chores or school/nursery pick-ups) and most evenings. Our eldest attends school five full days a week; the twins attend nursery 5 mornings a week and activities 2-3 afternoons.
Most of the role involves entertaining and having a good time with the children and lending a hand around the house. We want someone who can be enthusiastic, outgoing and interested in making lots of fun for them. We'd prefer to find someone who has enjoyed being an au pair or working with young children of this age group before. As we are only wanting candidates who will live-in, please don't reply if you are someone who lives locally wanting a live-out basis.
The start is ideally during November 2014 until at least summer 2015. We have had an au pair since July 2012 so it could be much longer if we all agree. It might suit someone, however, who is on a gap year, or has plans to study/travel elsewhere from Autumn 2015 onwards.
Please reply ASAP with contact details and some information about your child-related experience and a CV if you have one. We will send more detailed information, photos etc if we are interested in knowing more about you. Please note this is very much an au pair role with pocket money and bed & board for part-time hours, it will not suit someone looking for a full-time or nanny post. It may best suit someone who is looking to improve their English, have a gap year or perhaps a part-time student with only a few hours tuition looking for accomodation and a part-time job.
