The Foundation
Prior Park College is an independent day and boarding school for some 590 girls and boys aged between 11 and 18. The school occupies an imposing 50 acre site on Ralph Allen Drive in Bath, combining beautiful Grade 1 listed buildings with more modern, purpose-built facilities. There is an associated Junior School, the Paragon, on a 7.5 acre site in Lyncombe Vale and a further Preparatory School in Cricklade, Swindon. The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an innovative designer to join The Prior Foundation Communications team. Reporting to the Director of Communications, and based at Prior Park College, the Graphic Designer will be updating and maintaining the College website, designing advertising and promotional material, creating layouts for in-house magazines and newsletters, while also enhancing existing school documentation. This is a fast paced, creative role in which you will be involved in a number of projects across the three Foundation schools. The post holder will be required to keep ahead of developments in IT, particularly design programmes. This role also involves taking charge of the photography database, including filing and archiving.

Graphic Designer will work independently as well as part of a team, often liaising with teaching and support staff, as well as printers and photographers. Working to deadlines and multi-tasking will be frequent requirements of the position. From time to time you will be actively involved in organising promotional events such as Open Days and Taster Days and attending various meetings.

The Graphic Designer will contribute to the visual marketing aspect of the school, undertake research and work on marketing projects as directed by the FDOC.

Other responsibilities include:
• Organise photo shoots
• Help organise marketing events such as Open Day, Open Door Days etc
• Submit advertising enquiries, including editorial for design, and maintain the annual schedule of advertising
• Promote the “Success Culture” within the College by disseminating copies of published articles and displays around the school.
• Catalogue the school’s images for future use and for use by other members of the department
• Compile and edit the annual school magazine, The Phoenix
• Prepare visual displays and take responsibility for plasma screens
• Liaise with the Communications Officers at the Prior Park Preparatory School and The Paragon School and attend regular meetings

Professional Specification and Personal Attributes
This role will ideally suit a candidate with creative flair, meticulous attention to detail and a comprehensive grasp of digital image editing. Ideally educated to degree level and with experience in graphic design, you will also have experience in updating and maintaining websites. Experience as a photographer would be advantageous.

The essential criteria for this role include:
• Thorough working knowledge of graphic design and digital image editing using industry standard tools
• Thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
• Ability to deal with the key formats required by external printers
• Experience of updating websites using the Content Editor
• Good working knowledge of the marketing and/or education environments
• Excellent organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent time management skills; ability to work to deadlines and to multitask
• Total integrity with the ability to work with discretion
• Ability to maintain confidentiality

It is highly desirable for the post holder to have photography experience. He or she will be able to work in a team, independently and under specific direction.

Conditions
This is a full time, permanent position. Normal hours of work will be from 08:30 am to 05:00 pm Monday to Friday, equating to 37.5 hours per week. It may sometimes be necessary to work beyond these hours in order to meet the needs of the Foundation.
There are five weeks paid holiday per year, pro rata in addition to Bank Holidays. There is free car parking and a substantial free lunch during term-time.
