We require a reliable, dedicated, knowledgeable and outgoing person for approx 7 hours per week (flexible on days and times to suit you) to lead on the fundraising and marketing aspects of Urban Youth.
Urban Youth is a new London based not for profit youth organisation aiming to transform the lives of disadvantaged young people through a new type of youth work approaches.
We are currently recruiting for an individual with the expertise, time and enthusiasm to become the Urban Youth Fundraising Officer, leading on all fundraising activities to increase revenue for much needed resources for young people aged 13 to 25 and leading on raising the profile of Urban Youth with the Communications and PR Officer.
Skills and expertise needed for this opportunity include;
Experience of fundraising;
Experience and/or knowledge of the charity/youth sector;
Excellent people and presentation skills;
Ability to meet deadlines and able to work alone;
Key Duties
To organise fundraising events and activities, including raffles, street and shopping mall collections, etc;
To research charitable trusts and foundations to find those whose grant criteria matches our projects;
To write and submit trust fund applications;
To contact businesses, clubs and professional organisations to get funding or arrange presentations;
To organise boot sales or stalls at fairs etc;
To find volunteers to run marathons etc and set up sponsorship events;
To help with organising our annual fundraising event and possibly start other event initiatives i.e. Music nights, comedy shows or concerts;
To come up with other ideas for raising awareness and getting donations;
To carry out social network contacting - raising awareness by using Facebook, Twitter, forums, blogging, YouTube etc;
To attend business networking events and trade shows to meet and persuade contacts to get involved/donate;
To soliciting donations of items (art, valuables, bric an brac etc) that can be either auctioned or sold on EBay, boot fairs, events, etc;
Plus any additional board meetings, and committee meetings (as agreed).
