What is the Fitness Instructing Academy?
This is a training course to prepare you for a job within the Fitness and Leisure industry. The training will give you a fantastic set of skills to find your first job in Fitness and Sport.
Where is the course being held?
Training Venue: Wolverhampton
Open Day: 02/05/2012 at 11AM
Start Date: 07/05/2012 at 9AM
**We will have courses running in the Wolverhampton area quite often so you can still apply for the next course when we have one scheduled.
Who is it for?
The Fitness Instructing Academy is FREE for you as long as you meet the following criteria:
16-18 years of age
Been living within the EU for the past 3 years
Currently living in England
Not studying (However, we can consider you if you are looking to leave their course)
Not attended university or gained a higher level qualification (i.e HND / Degree)
Not in contracted employment
Have no previous convictions in the last three years (dependant on your circumstances)
How does the Academy work?
You will spend 17 days in a gym and training centre learning all about Human anatomy, physiology, How to write a fitness programme, How to use gym equipment professionally, Gym membership sales and customer service. We will also give you £25 per week for four weeks to assist you with travel expenses.
How will I get into employment?
We will support you into their first fitness job, giving you the opportunity to put all those skills you have learnt into practice, and help you build that all important CV. We have a team of employment officers who will source jobs before the course starts*
You will work a minimum of 16 hours per week and paid the minimum apprenticeship wage of £2.60 per hour. However, some employers chose to pay more than this . You will gain your L2 in fitness and instructing and go on to complete a L3 in Personal Training whilst in employment.
*Our current success rate for getting young people into employment is 75%.
What Qualifications can I achieve?
First Aid
L2 in Fitness and Instructing (6 months to complete whilst employed)
L2 in Customer Service
REPS Level 2
L2 in Key skills Maths & Communications
Option to go onto L3 to become a fully qualified Personal Trainer (6 months to complete after completing L2 in Fitness and Instructing whilst employed)
