Overall role
A small firm of accountants require an experienced and competent individual to primarily run the in-house payroll bureau and in addition assist the bookkeeping department. You will have sole responsibility for the processing of our clients’ monthly payrolls and therefore experience of multi-company payroll processing is essential. The high level of responsibility attached to the payroll function means that knowledge of both manual and computerised payroll processing together with an understanding of current employment law is vital.

• Processing and administration of monthly payroll for clients
• Preparation of year end returns P35 and P14/P60
• Monthly and quarterly bookkeeping on primarily Sage Line 50 systems to include posting of invoices and bank transactions, bank and ledger reconciliations etc
• Preparation of VAT Returns
• Preparation of management accounts
• Various administrative tasks to include corresponding with clients and HMRC

The role will be based principally in the office but some work at client premises may be required.

Dependent on age and experience.

Extensive experience in a similar role.
Working knowledge of Intex payroll (Earnie) software is preferable and of Sage products essential. Ideally familiar with Quickbooks.

Personal Skills Required
Excellent organisational and communications skills - you will be dealing with numerous clients on a regualr basis.
The ability to work both alone and in a team environment.
