ob Purpose:

To provide expert legal support and advice to employer clients. Undertake instructions from these clients and advise on necessary courses of legal action. Prepare and conduct the defence of claims in Employment Tribunal on behalf of clients. To generate new and existing business through building relationships and networking.

Duties:

Visit new clients to determine their employment law / HR requirements

Meet and interview clients to establish the firm's suitability to provide the necessary advice and services

Carry out business development activities in line with the business plans; Generate new business, market

Implement and build a referral scheme

Draft tailored contracts of employment, employee handbooks, policies and procedures

Provide clients with advice in relation to day to day employment law matters via phone, email and face to face

Act on behalf of clients in disputes and represent them in employment tribunals

Draft ET3 submissions

Take and draft witness statements

Analysing and evaluating evidence of cases and decide what strategy to take

Conduct pre-hearing reviews and final hearings on behalf of clients

Prepare papers for Tribunal hearings and comply with directions

Review contracts, policies and procedures for clients

Advise clients on termination of employment

Draft compromise agreements

Deliver training to clients on employment law issues

Attending meetings and negotiating with clients and other professionals to secure agreed objectives

Keep up to date with changes and developments in the law

Undertaking a range of continuing professional development (CPD)

Carry out marketing and sales activity. networking through a variety of methods; social media, events, etc

Person Specification:

Qualified barrister or solicitor

Approximately 3 - 5 years post qualified experience of working in exclusively in an employment law role is essential

Must have considerable experience with tribunal claims, defending employers.

Proficient in Microsoft office package; Excel, Word, Powerpoint

Demonstrates understanding of the clientÂ’s needs and is able to tailor advice appropriately

Is able to contribute to the overall business plan, develop business opportunities and generate business

Takes responsibility for own caseload

Is experienced dealing with competing priorities and is able to meet deadlines

Strong written and oral communications skills

Confidence, accuracy, Tact and discretion

Is a confident communicator and has excellent presentation skills

Has the ability to adapt their style of communication appropriately when dealing with all levels of colleagues and clients

Has proven negotiating skills

Ideally the candidate with have experience networking through a variety of methods; social media, events, etc

Demonstrates strong research skills and is responsible of keeping their knowledge up to date

A flexible can-do nature, excellent time management, methodical at planning and resilient in their approach

Travel:

An essential requirement is a driving license as regular travel to meet with clients or attend court hearings may be required. Overnight stays may be necessary.
