Our Client, over 100 y.o., lives on a farm in Renfrewshire and requires a carer on 8 July 2013. She is remarkable in that while she is in the early stages of dementia she is only now becoming physically frail with age. She needs a live-in housekeeper / cook / carer to work a weekly rota with her other carer. Someone with a sense of humour and fun and prepared to stimulate her interests would be a great help. Our Client has her eldest son and his family living just a mile away and there is a tenant in the adjacent annex to the farmhouse so there is back-up from family and friends if needed.

Starting on 8 July and working a weekly rota, you will earn £88.50 per day gross or approx. £620.00 gross minimum for a 7 day week and will be paid on a weekly basis. You need to own your own car for this assignment for which you be paid a mileage allowance to travel to and from home. Repeat, you need to have your own car so please do not reply if you do not. You will have your own TV and will be able to connect to Broadband so you can keep in touch with family and friends providing you have your own laptop. Our Client would prefer a more mature person in their late 50’s or 60’s to care for their Mother and who has had experience as a carer if not a retired nurse.

You should be a good cook accustomed to cooking in the British style and to using fresh ingredients and not bought-in pre-cooked food – although our client has simple tastes, this is an important requirement. So, if you are a microwave and kettle person producing pre-cooked Supermarket food this is not the job for you.

You must have a UK National Insurance number and be registered as Self-employed and thus responsible for paying your own NI contribs. and Tax - if not we can help with this. A high standard of written and spoken English is required because elderly people can often find foreign accents confusing.

If you are selected by us as a potentially suitable carer, you will be interviewed by our Client’s family, with your travel costs refunded. You will, of course, meet the Client.

If you are interested in this caring assignment you should e-mail us with your name, your mobile ‘phone contact number where we can contact you. It’s important you try and write an informative e-mail about yourself so that it stands out. CV’s tend to be rather impersonal although factually correct so please take as much care answering this advertisement as we have taken preparing it - to merely send a blank e-mail with a CV attached tells me you are using the “scatter gun” approach which may simply result in the delete button being hit - sorry!
