COMMUNICATIONS INTERN
Required for Eco-friendly packaging company


SALARY: Unpaid internship with £200 per month to cover expenses

LOCATION: Polwarth, Edinburgh

DATES: 12th July 2012 for six months. Full time 9am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Vegware is a young, dynamic and rapidly expanding eco-friendly packaging company. We manufacture and distribute catering disposables and food packaging. All of our products are made from either renewable or recycled materials, and all are compostable. The Vegware range spans cutlery through to tableware, napkins, hot and cold drink cups, and takeaway packaging.

We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic individual to be a part of our busy team over the summer, specifically to help with marketing and communications tasks under the guidance of our Communications Manager. This is an office-based role.

Our priority is to find an energetic, articulate and ambitious individual with an interest in communications and marketing and a passion for the environment.

You will gain an insight into the day-to-day running of a fast-growing green business. You will receive full support and feedback to develop your writing and communications skills.

We are a close-knit team of 16, and all perform a fairly wide variety of tasks, so your contribution would make a real difference. You will be expected to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key responsibilities

1. Work together with the Communications Manager to deliver our communications strategy.
2. This includes a wide variety of tasks such as social media, writing, PR, and market research, as well as sending samples out to prospective customers and mucking in with the day-to-day running of the company.
3. Show commitment to the company values in all aspects of your role.
4. Ensure all communications both verbal and written enhance the company image.
5. Act at all times as an ambassador for the business.

You are a friendly, reliable and articulate individual with excellent interpersonal skills, and genuine passion for the environment.

You will be a good fit with Vegware's core values of honesty, integrity, growth and profitability.

You will have to be an excellent communicator with good computer skills. You will also be able to communicate effectively via written media.

You will need to be a team player - working with and supporting the rest of the team in Edinburgh.

You will report to Lucy Frankel, Vegware's Communications Manager.
