The City Barge is located on the River Thames in a picturesque part of Chiswick called Strand on the Green. The pub has some great original features dating back many hundreds of years, with photographs of days gone by adorning our walls. During high tide the submarine style door keeps the river at bay whilst customers sit and enjoy some great food and really well kept Cask Marque Ales. Our unique selling point is that The City Barge is a proper Great British traditional riverside pub with character and charm. We have a very strong locals trade and in the Spring & Summer months we also benefit from visitors and tourists to Chiswick, Richmond and Kew Gardens. Apart from our character and charm our claim to fame is the Beatles filmed the 'HELP!' movie inside our old bar and outside on the tow path. Beatles fans visit the pub all year round and we welcome Beatles Tour Groups for lunch and evening meals.
Strand on the Green is the most affulent area of Chiswick and although predominantly residential there are excellent transport links into Central London and beyond via the District Line Underground and ideal mainline connections to Stratford, Waterloo and Clapham Junction. By road there is easy access to buses and the M4 Motorway is less than half a mile from the pub.

2 bars, 2 trading areas, toilets in both bar areas, trade kitchen at ground level, prep room and store room. The upper bar area is also used for private functions, parties and office meetings.
External: A garden on the road side of the building and benches to the river side.
Live in accommodation is available for the successful candidate. The Assistant Manager accommodation comprises of one large room, bathroom, toilet and self-contained kitchen. All of the accommodation has just been refurbished and is in excellent condition.
WHO SHOULD APPLY
This vacancy would ideally suit an Assitant Manager who feels comfortable working in a local premium community business managing a fair degree of lunchtime and evening food, linked in with the great weekend trade. The need to understand seasonal demand, the local culture and grow the reputation as a 'Great Local Pub' is paramount. A hands-on, personable style is very much a requirement, with an eye for detail and a passion for high standards.. Kitchen experience would be a great asset to have here.
